Does anyone know of where I can get a swarovski crystal monogram topper for inexpensive?

I ordered mine off of this site called Etsy.com it's an "ebay" for handmade crafts, but you don't have to bid, you can just buy. The sellers name is DazzleMeElegant. She custom designs your monogram topper any way you want it for relatively cheap compared to others out there that are way expensive and look all the same, no originality. Does anyone know what Swarovski uses to glue their pieces together?

Every time I buy a little figurine or annual ornament, I am amazed at how crystal clear the glue is that holds the crystal together.

Anyone know what kind of glue that is or what kind you think it might be?|||The pieces are fused by heat. As the other person mentioned, Swarovski recommends epoxy glue for joining crystals. http://www.alliumblue.com/two-component-鈥?/a>|||As a bead artist, I don't know what they use in manufacturing their pieces, but I do know they advise the use of epoxy if you're planning on creating pieces using their components! I hope this helps!|||NO, but you could call the factory or head office %26amp; ask what they would use to replace a piece if it broke off %26amp; I would think it would be the same as what they used to create it in the first place.

Can you use Swarovski Hotfix Crystals on acrylic jewelry?

I'm starting an online jewelry business and I wanted to know if I could use Hotfix Crystals on acrylic lucite, its kind of like plexiglass, or really thick plastic. Would it be okay to use that? If not, can you recommend a glue that will keep the crystals on the jewelry?|||I wonder if the hot fix would melt the plastic when you use the tool to put them on. You can buy Swarovski stones that are not the hot fix and apply glue to them. If you ask or search around the site you buy stones from, they usually have a glue they recommend or a place to ask a question. I would ask the sellers as they would know.

Best of luck.|||2 part epoxy.

But it can be expensive.

Which is more precious, cubid zirconian or swarovski crystal? Is swarovski crystal manmade as well?

How do I differentiate a manmade crystal vs a natural crystal?|||Cubic Zirconia is a lab created "stone" - Swarovski crystals are not only higher quality, they are more valuable.

If you are going for the look of a diamond, Cubic Zirconia is a better diamond simulate. Swarovski crystal has too many facets and too much fire to pass for a diamond. However, nothing is better than the original - Diamond jewelry is affordable when you know where to look.

But if you are definitiely set on either a piece of Swarovski or something Cubic Zirconia - Swarovski has a better name and are usually more beautiful - but Cubic Zirconia is a better simulate.

It's a toss up, as long as you are buying something that features genuine metals such as gold, silver or platinum - Either are a good choice.|||swarovski crystal is made from hi-grade leaded glass, which is fairly common. its the way swarovski cuts the glass that adds the value. CZs are very common. i'd take the crystal.|||The svarovski is from rock crystal. It's not manmade like the cz.|||Swarovski crystal is not an actual crystal. It is glass with a high lead content (lead increases the index of refraction and gives it more sparkle) that has been cut and polished to shape. Cubic zirconia is an actual crystal that has been grown and then cut to bring out its fire. On a weight basis the CZ is far more valuable - you can buy a lot of crystal beads for the price of a single CZ gem.

Is there anywhere I can buy the Jolee's SWAROVSKI Crystal Elements in single units?

I am making 2 mother's bracelets so I need like 1 clear, 2 emerald, 2 white opal, 1 ruby, etc. I just need 16 beads total. Is there anywhere I can buy these singularly? Michaels and online they are sold in packages for like $5 a piece, and when I need a total of 9 different jewels, that gets a little pricey.

Thanks!|||Hi there,

Would a Swarovski Crystal ring be suitable for a temporary engagement ring?

What are the qualities of this range of jewellery? Are they suitable for all-day/every-day wear?|||.ANYTHING is suitable as the ring is just a symbol. As for durability, I'd be concerned. What is the difference between swarovski crystal AB and Swarovski crystal transmission?

and which one do you think is more quality?|||http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-swarov鈥?/a>

I think the crystals are the same, they're different only in the coatings, and coatings are basically metal oxides, that's why a ruby and a sapphire have the same composition (Al2O3), but the first is red and the other blue because the blue one has traces of iron, titanium and chromium. If you want to impress people with the price, go for the more expensive one. If you want to impress them with your good taste, choose the pretiest. Chemically, they're both coatings made from metal oxides, there's no extra quality there. The shinier the best (more lead, better glass).|||They have different names??

And how do you attach them etc etc?|||It looks like a strand of rhinestones.

Rhinestone banding/strands are a connected 'chain', or row, of individual stones, each stone held in a metal or plastic 'cup'. A 'single-row' strand is one continuous row of connected stones. A 'double-row' strand is two continuous and connected rows of connected stones. Stranded stones are also available in triple, quadruple, and even more rows. The stones may be connected using one or a combination of methods, including strung with solid or elastic thread, or strung and set on a colored net or elastic backing.

They can be sewn or glued on.|||If they were diamonds or gemstones the mounting would be called a bezel. I would try a craft store to see what kind of jewelry findings they stock.|||It looks like a plastic bezel setting. If it was metal, you would use a small tool to gently push the bezel (the bit that goes around the stone) over the edge of the stone, but I'm not sure how well that'd work with plastic. You might just have to glue them.

They usually have a whole rack of books in the bead isle, or just at the end of it. Another good store for hobby books is Michael's. However, I have seen it done two different ways. I found one that was full of people learning to make wire/metal jewelry. Some who had been self taught, others who had some training and all who were willing to share tips, experience, photographs and opinions.

With these two resources I was able to learn my craft at home while I was a stay at home mom of two children. While I prefer hands on learning I was just not able to travel to classes/workshops. I just started making jewelry and one of my clients would like her swarovski crystals to "shine like diamonds" and I'm not exactly sure which color would be best for her.

What's the difference between Swarovski , Czechic crystal, and Zirconium Oxide stone?

Who can tell me which one is expensive and enjoy high value? is Zirconium Oxide cheaper than crystals or not?|||Well ...

Swarovski is cut from lead glass and was first initially developed by Swarovkski in Austria. It's basically lead glass cut to look like an imitation gemstone. This has a very great luminous look and feel and is a lot less expensive than Cubic Zirconia. Keep in mind, the luster to this crystal is very colorful in clear, so it may not appear to be as real looking as diamond. Swarovski is great for imitation "colored gems"

Czech Crystal is also made from glass. Not as common as the other two, but similar to Austrian Crystal. This would most likely be the cheapest, but also not as valued as the Swarovski.

Zirconium Oxide or (Cubic Zirconia) is the number one synthetic version of Diamond used as its substitute. It's somewhat heavier than diamond and it is man-made. This would be the most expensive of the three. Less than the price of diamond and sometimes a great deal less for the value, while also looking as close to diamond as you can get.|||here's websites about it!! I'm not sure off hand!!

What glue should I use to attach a wing back to the crystal I bought from Swarovski?

Nothing is broken, just one of the wings detached. I'm guessing cause it hasn't been touched for really long and is crispy. What glue is best to attach the wing back? I heard something about E6000 adhesive epoxy glue. Not sure if it works. Advice greatly appreciated, thanks.|||Hi Jason ,

While I'm am not a adhesive expert by any means ... , I am almost 60 years old and during the later forty of those 60 years I was on management in very large CNC machine Shop , had my machines at home for gun smithing and building custom long range handguns and raised for children (where glue was required to save the day many a time ;-) ,

My shop job and home business required adhesives that covered a great number of materials ( from wood to exotic metals and plastics used in the Space Industry .

Home was pretty simple ...fixing broken dolls , cap guns , toy cars (remember when this stuff was all all metal ??

Anyways I've probably tried just about everything at on time or another ... and I can see that we are alike when it comes to the unknown . (even items some may think trivial ie. "gluing glass back together) You ask before diving into a project .

Knowing you have that quality I'll bet you don"t have any repaired breakables around your house with discolored glues/adhesives peeling off or making the repaired cracks stick out like a sore thumb .

I don't repair many delicate glass items so I think my first questions would go to the manufacture of you broken item and a few others that make this type of item and ask them cuz it probably won't look right ifs not properly repaired with the right adhesive and procedure .

A lot of adhesives may hold it together but will be (((very visible))) especially after time and light take their toll .

The glass manufacturers should be able to tell you what will work best and how to do it .

I'd look into a pair of "Second Hands" Adjustable arms with clamps for holding light parts in odd positions , they come with or without a magnifying glass .

their all over ebay.

Good Luck %26amp; don't stop asking if you don't know .

Has anyone heard complaints about the lead content in Swarovski crystals?

Went to my local bead shop today %26amp; was quite surprised to see they are no longer carrying Swarovski crystals. Instead they are using a type of Chinese crystal. When I questioned the shop keeper, I was told it is because buyers have become unhappy with the lead content in Swarovski crystals.

I have been making jewellery for years %26amp; have never had anyone mention lead content in crystal. I am wanting to know if there is truth in this or if the bead store is attempting to save money.

Ideas or information, anyone???|||Sounds like a marketing ploy to me.

I have a cabinet full of lead crystal stemware--drinking vessels made from lead crystal. It's the lead content that makes the design cut into the glasses sparkle. I have Waterford crystal and Princess House crystal that's on the order of 25% lead. The only warning I've ever had was not to STORE citrus juice or wine in lead-crystal decanters because of the leaching possibility. Drinking wine during a meal shouldn't pose a problem. If it can be sold with 25% to 35% lead content to hold the liquid you're going to drink, would there be a restriction on the stones in a brooch or pendant that doesn't even touch your skin?

Actually, the laws concerning lead in jewelry are more about lead "charms" that might be placed on a child's bracelet or necklace and leach lead easily, not the crystals that might go into an adult piece and that incorporate the lead into glass! China is notorious for using lead paint on children's toys, making lead "charms" that are intended for children's jewelry, and pretty much not caring about lead poisoning. The crystal industry on the other hand, mostly based in Europe, is very concerned about a balance between gorgeous, sparkly crystal and any danger from using it. If you're concerned, you can get a test kit that will tell you if lead is leaching out--that's what we use on the toys we buy that come from China to make sure they aren't going to poison anyone.|||I don't know where you are, but there's been no information at all in the UK, and I'm a member of the Bead Society of Great Britain, with information travelling quickly round. I googled 'lead content of swarovski crystal' and found an interesting article - it's the first one on the google page (somehow I couldn't cut and paste), so please have a look at it.|||I suspect it's quite the opposite. If you're concerned about the lead content, wearing latex gloves will alleviate the problem.. The Chinese crystals are cheaper and he can charge about the same price. Here's an article to help:http://jewelry-business-blog.com/jewelry鈥?/a>|||JoAnn's sells Swarovski crystals and I have NOT heard of any problems.

How do i create one of those swarovski snowflake pendant cake toppers i see?

I love the way they look, and would like to make it myself. I make jewelry, so I think I'd be able to do this. They are so expensive to buy from a retailer. It has about 8-10 silver wires that are slightly curved at different heights, and then you dangle a snowflake pendant from the ends. Has anyone ever made one of these? What did you use, and how did you construct it, what was used for the base?|||I'm just winging this here...since I've never seen one. I would use a sturdy straw, with a large enough diameter to hold the 10 sturdy wires. Shove candy clay into the center of the straw. Pack it solid. Insert the straw into the top of the cake. Insert the wires, Bend them the way you wish and suspend the snowflakes. Make sure the wires don't go through the candy clay into the cake. You can find a recipe for the candy clay at

Does the AB coating come off on Swarovski crystal?

I like the AB coating on some of the clear crystals because they give them a beautiful multicolor shine, but I've heard that they can flake off bit by bit as you wear them. Is this true? Does it happen for Swarovski crystals as well as other types of crystals?

~thxx (:|||All coating have a potential to wear, chip off, etc. My experience with Swarovski crystal beads is that the coating is really well applied but certain factors will cause it to wear off including (but not limited to) perfumes, creams, lotions, wearing your jewelry in the bath, shower, swimming pool or ocean, certain body chemistry, certain weather (hot humid beach areas), wearing it against other jewelry, etc. I know that doesn't sound encouraging but for the most part, they hold up well year after year and definitely better then other brand crystals. If you buy a third party coating on a Swarovski crystal, it probably won't hold up as well either.

How does resin react with Swarovski flatback crystals?

I want to make some Christmas ornaments with the resin, in a mold. I want to set a flat back crystal in the resin.

I'm just wondering how the crystal and the foil on the back of the crystal will react to the resin, if there is any reaction at all.

|||I'm not exactly sure what you're going for, but it sounds like you want a Resin ornament base piece, with the crystal as the center piece. If that's the case, there should not be any connection betweent he resin and mold of the base and your crystal at all. The 2 should be seperate units, one glued to the other when you're ready with both.

If you already have a resin base, and want to add your foil backed centerpeice to that now and then make a mold of the completed unit so you can cast it as a whole, you shouldn't have any problems there either. So long as the piece is glued or tacked somewhere to the base prior to molding it, it'll come out as a complete unit when you're done.

I've held things together with tape while molding so I could get a "one-piece" end product to work with.

Hope this helps?

It's fast, easy and so far I've not damaged anything with my hot fix tool, and I have crystallized almost everything.

You can also use ordinary flat back crystals -without the hot fix glue -and use gel-formula super glue and a tweezers to stick the crystals where you want. It's far more time consuming and you run the risk of making a mess and gluing crystals to everything But the shoes. Use just a tiny drop of glue, place the crystal in the glue with tweezers, hold the gem in place with the tip of a sewing needle and remove the tweezers. Hold the gem down for a few seconds and then lift the needle. The needle holds the gem in place long enough for the glue to set, if you hold the crystal in place with the tweezers you'll have glued the tweezers to the shoe! The gel glue won't drip or run. Don't get and glue on your fingers or you will glue your fingers to the crystals or worse, glue yourself to the shoe. That's why hot fix crystals are better and why I switched. My first time in the hospital emergency room with my fingers glued to a shoe was the last time I used glue.

So hot fix crystals are best.|||Swarovski does have a heat gun thing that attaches the flat backed crystals to a surface. Not sure about shoes. They worked well on a regular shirt. I bought mine at Michael's along with a variety of different crystals. This site has some info on application.

Whats the best way to attach swarovski crystals to clothing?

Hey, Whats the best way to attach swarovski crystals to clothing?

Thanks :-)|||If you mean the classic flat back crystals there are two options that i find work best. The simple metal prong sets are easy to use, hold the crystals tightly, and when you tire of the garment the crystals can be un-set and then recycled onto something new. The metal prong sets are placed on the wrong side of the garment, the prongs pushed through to the right side, the crystal placed in the center, and the prongs pushed over the crystal to hold it in place. you can buy tools for bending the prongs, or you can use the eraser end of a pencil, a needle nose pliers or a the tip of a metal thimble, all which are cheaper and easier to use than a real crystal setter. Items that use prong set crystals are machine washable provided you turn the garment inside out. Flat silverbacks can also be glued on with a special gem glue. In a professional setting for me, I find the glue messy and time consuming, but it's a good option if you only want a few crystals on one item only.

There are also the newer hot fix crystals available. These have a special heat activated glue on the back. These are applied to the garment with a special heat tool that looks similar to a wood-burning tool or a hobby soldering iron. The crystal tool uses a lower heat than the soldering iron or the wood burner. The only disadvantage is that if you want to use the crystals again they have to be heat un-set, and then they will need to be prong set if they are to be used again. When properly set, hot fix crystals are supposed to be machine washable and dry cleanable...however I prefer hand washing anything embellished.

For any crystals with holes in them, the sew in kind, use a long staple polyester thread such as Mettler or Gutterman brand to sew them down. sew firmly with doubled thread and knot well on the wrong side. Hand wash anything with sew on crystals.

The rhinestone guy has a website for with prong sets, flat silverback crystals, hot fix crystals, and tools. http://www.rhinestoneguy.com/

~Thanks in advance :)|||ac moore or michaels are hands down the best places for crafts and such. and yes they have both of what you are looking for.|||You can buy them at local craft stores but it won't be cheap. If you use the same Swarovski crystals repeatedly, then you're much better off buying online. I use www.inmcrystal.com and they are much cheaper then Michael's (like more then half price). You can get 15% off your order until the end of the month with coupon code BEADS810.

Is a Swarovski Crystal the same as a Clear Quartz Crystal?

I am wanting to buy a clear quartz crystal, but what I find is mostly swarovski crystals. Are they the same thing, just a different name? They have the name right on the package so you'll know. You can get much better prices online. I like www.inmcrystal.com. The glue depends on what you are gluing onto; fabric, plastic, paper, etc. Nevertheless, your best bet is to experiment with glues. How do you take care of a Rhodium-plated ring with Swarovski crystals?

My mom loves a Swarovski ring with baguete cut crystals but I wanted to know first if it will change colors, or if cant get under water, etc?

She would wear it all the time so it has to be a nice durable ring.|||Its fine to clean Rhodium with any kind of jewelry cleaner. I would clean the Rhodium part with the cleaner and be very gentle with the Swarovski crystals. Rhodium does not turn but it may get a little dirty. I work in a store that sells costume jewelry. We just clean them with that purple stuff you can buy at the mall.|||Those types of jewelry are supposed to be worn with great care. They were not designed for daily use . Wear them for parties and special occasions where you are not supposed to dunk your hands washing the dishes later.

If you wanted one for wearing all the time, get her a white or yellow gold ring with real diamonds all around like an eternity ring.

However, if your mom really wants the ring, you might as well get her the one she wants. She will get disapointed if she doesnt get one !.

Do Swarovski rhodium plated brass items tarnish?

I have been tempted to buy some of the cuplink chain by Swarovski. I know that it is rhodium plated brass. I am worried that if the rhodium wears off, the piece will start to look gold. I have read that rhodium is very sturdy and adheres well to brass. Anyone have any experience with any of these items? How long do they take to turn (if ever)? Thanks!|||All I can say is that I was given a rhodium-plated brooch about 50 years ago, and it's still going strong. I have rubbed it with a silver-polishing cloth occasionally.

Are swarovski beads with birthstone colors really the birthstone?

For example, if i buy a topaz bicone swarovski bead, is the bead really made out of the stone topaz or is it just crystal in the color "topaz"?|||Swarovski is the luxury brand name for the range of precision-cut lead crystal glass. They are the most beautiful crystals in the world but they are manmade and dyed various colors.

There is no problem using a crystal dyed topaz for birthstone jewelry. Although they are dyed they still represent the month of November.

Purchasing the precious stone "topaz" can be very expensive so using a crystal dyed topaz is a great alternative.

Hope this helps!

how to tell fakes? Look under high power magnification.

Swaros are consistent in size..and the facets do not have chips.

The new Swaros even have more facets because they got tired of the imitators.

They redid the bicones from 5301 to 5248 or something.

If you bought from Hong Kong/China they are fake..in my opinion...

Often the Seller has no idea of the right color names.

Most fakes are off center...meaning one side is bigger than the other.

Swaros have better shine.

I don't know of any toxins on beads...but that is an interesting question. If you buy from FMG...sometimes the Chinese imports (usually metals) have a notice not child safe due to lead.

Otherwise, the 28-135 is good for close-in work and has macro focus (1:3approx). It is $480 new and also common on e-bay or craigslist. The zoom lenses are a little more prone to dust and mold, use common sense in your purchases.|||canon 50mm macro, or tamron 90mm macro (what i use mostly),

How can I identify genuine Swarovski hotfix crystals?

I don't want to pay Swarovski prices for a knockoff, nor do I want to sell my garments under the guise of using Swarovski when the crystals are actually knockoffs.

Swarovski products have a visible Swarovski logo. The products manufactured between1976 and 1988 have an SC logo in block format. Products manufactured since 1988 either have an SCS logo or the Swan logo on them. Some older pieces may have very faint logos. In some cases, the logo may have been hidden behind an adhesive surface.

There is an article on this subject from Ebay, I have left a link below:

PS: What garments are you selling? If you sell them via Amazon or Ebay let me know.|||First of all, Swarovski hotfix items (flatback) is in the FASHION COMPONENTS line; none of the crystals in this product line will have any kind of marking on it.

The most certain way to purchase genuine Swarovski component is purchasing factory package from a distributor. The sealed package itself is the Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

not worth that much on the market - just run of the mill stuff to almost costume jewelry|||It's not worth what you think it is.

Best way to adhere Swarovski Crystals to a cell phone?

I got the real deal Swarovski's to pav茅 the whole back of my SLVR, so I really don't want them to fall off. What is the best type of glue and/or method for this? Don't tell me it's played, because my color scheme is fresh and it'll look good.|||I recommend coating the back of the phone with clear nail polish. That not only makes them stay on the phone but also keeps the phone from having glue spots showing between the crystals. Once you stick the gems on, then coat the tops with clear polish too.|||i've tried the nail polish, and they were popping of the next week, try going to a michaels art supply store in the glue section, They have this gem and bead glue its kinda like super glue with a permanent bond, I forget what its called but the tip looks like a needle and deposits a tiny bit just perfect for swarovski crystals|||This site will show you what glue you will need.

http://www.thistothat.com/index.shtml|||clear nail varnish and then super glue and then more varnish or you can use jewlery glue..................super glue really is the real deal !|||I don't know if you have Araldite, but it's an epoxy two part glue. It takes about five minutes to set, so you have to have them sitting flat, and leave it 24 hours to really dry, and you should be fine. I am a jeweller, and this is what I use to stick pearls on rings.
